In 1935 Bob was at the San Diego International Exposition where he saw a demonstration of "television" which hadn't really been invented yet. Bob grabbed some of his puppets (he built puppets, too) from his car (he could also drive) and tried them out on this new fangled television thing. The audience loved it!
So, in 1949, when television was really invented, Bob decided to do a new show with puppets. But which puppets? Hmmmm.
He thought back in his memory to (guess what film?) The Lost World and remembered Wallace Beery dressed up as Professor Challenger.
Bob created a new character inspired by Challenger named Captain Horatio K. Huffenpuff (and later, Unca Captain).

It seems like he lost his gun someplace. Maybe the oceans got safer.
