Price: All NTSC-VHS videos are $13 each regardless of length. We use name brand tapes: T120, T130 or T160 at the 2 hour (SP) speed (except where specifically noted as LP (4 hour speed)  or EP ).
Postage and handling is additional. Please see the Order Sheet for postage and handling charges.
New York State residents must include 8 1/4% sales tax..
 
NTSC-VHS  Prices quoted are for American/Japanese VHS (NTSC) only. These are the best quality we have available.
What is NTSC? It is a recording standard used in the United States, Japan and a few other countries.
What is PAL? It is a recording standard used in the UK, Spain and most of Europe.

NEW!PAL-VHS We can now offer PAL-VHS tapes once again! These PAL tapes are $18.00 each.

WARNING: The quality of these PAL tapes is NOT AS GOOD AS NTSC-VHS! The reason for this is that these are one generation off the NTSC originals. If a tape is described as "murky" in NTSC, it will be even MORE murky in PAL.. If you are at all fussy, do not order PAL, you will not be happy.

What is PAL and SECAM? They are two different recording standards used in most of Europe, South America, Australia and certain other countries. They are NOT used in the United States. If you do not know what your VCR plays, please ask your dealer.

Quality:
 
Non-commercial Image Quality - Although we do our very best, please note that we emphasize non-commercial, since quality varies  Most tapes are second or third generation at best. These items have historical significance, but source materials are not always perfect.  This means that the originals were of low quality and no matter what we do, they will not be "sparkling" and absolutely clear and sharp. All the tapes are a little "soft." These are not tapes for "fussy" collectors. The sound is almost always good, but the images are not perfect. If you have tapes converted from NTSC to PAL, quality also drops.

We have tried to describe each film accurately since we do not want anyone to be disappointed. In our FAQ, there are more exact descriptions of the terms we use for quality: click here.

Note: Home VCRs vary widely. For these videos, as with any videos not recorded on your own machines, we strongly suggest you utilize the tracking controls located on the face of your VCR and/or your remote.
 

Recording Speeds - Tapes under two hours are recorded at SP (Standard Play). Some tapes over two hours are recorded at a speed called LP (Long Play). We do not record any tapes at all using the EP (Extended Play) speed as we think these are inferior.

About the LP Speed in Europe and Australia: The LP speed allows for up to four hours of time on one tape with not much loss of quality. However, some European and Australian NTSC machines do not play these LP tapes properly. In some cases, LP tapes appear to be blank on European NTSC machines even though they play perfectly on American NTSC machines. We are beginning to mark these tapes a little bit at a time, but if you live in Europe or Australia please make sure that your machine will play NTSC LP speed.


Subtitles: Unless a tape is clearly marked English Subtitles, please assume that there are no subtitles.

 
Some tapes may be marked Spanish Subtitles or Japanese Subtitles. This means that the subtitles are ONLY in that language. There will not be English Subtitles as well.  It does not mean that the tape is subtitled in two languages (eg. Japanese and English), it means that there are only Japanese subtitles.
